Your guide to mouth ulcers

The canker sores are small ulcers present inside the mouth which   make talking and eating uncomfortable.

Cause of canker sores:

Stress or tissue injury is said to be the cause of canker sores. Braces, ill-fitting dentures, sharp tooth edges can trigger canker sores. The nutritional deficiency of iron, folic acid, zinc and vitamin B-12 also triggers complex canker sores.

Symptoms of canker sores:

• Tingling or burning sensation
• Appearance of round grey or white structure with red edge or border
• Pain in  areas inside the mouth  like cheeks, soft palate and tongue

Cold sores:

The cold sores are caused by Herpes simplex virus that is extremely contagious, and occurs outside the mouth in areas beneath the chin, surrounding the lip and under the nose. Medically, a cold sore is referred to as fever blisters or Herpes simplex type 1.

Symptoms of cold sores:

• Sore throat
• Fever
• Discomfort while sleeping, drinking and eating
• Drooling in kids
• Swollen lymph nodes in neck
