What are tooth cavities?

Tooth cavities are the most common teeth related problems that can affect people of any age. Usually, the food particles, saliva and bacteria combine  to form a sticky substance known as plaque. If teeth are not cleaned properly, these plaque deposits adhere to the teeth, which  can then harden into tartar and calculus. Acids produced by germs (which are  present in the plaque) degrade the tooth, resulting in the formation of “holes” in the tooth known as “tooth cavities”.

Are braces recommended on decayed tooth?

If tooth decay or cavities are not treated on time, they become extensive in size, weakening the overall tooth structure. In such cases, the tooth is not able to withstand the external forces such as pressure due to biting,  chewing or  any dental treatment procedure.
